Cotton Candy! From Sheet to Shorts...

I have been collecting the odd cotton sheet from 2nd hand stores / Thrift stores for sometime now. If you can find one in good condition, without the worn middle then you have yourself a huge piece of fabric to play around with. I mostly look out for vintage floral ones, but this week I found this delicious cotton candy striped one. The cotton is fantastic quality and is still lovely and thick. The colours are "me" too. Although I did intend to make the boys pants/shorts from it.. I thought no, I will make something for me this time.
I found a pattern from one of my Burda magazines and got to it....

How cute is that sheet! $3 from The Sallys!

 Cotton Candy

My new sewing toy.... great time saver!

a dotty guide to cut out

So what do you think?

  1. So cute holly! I love them!! Funny I just made some little under shorts to wear under dreeses or to bed, we must have read each others minds!!

  2. These sheets remind me of my childhood (and for some reason my nana) and I hunted some down opp shopping too. I've been using them on the kids beds. Maybe I should rethink that as those will be great shorts.

  3. And Hols I must read your mind too. I am about to post about how many vintage sheets I have been buying recently and ideas to do with them!

  4. Whats your toy called and where did you get it from? I need one for my ottobres! Sara

  5. I don't know if it has another name but its just a pattern tracer wheel...

  6. lovely! beautiful fabric and i like the shorts pattern, nice design :)
